Event: Conducting Workshop

Ever wondered what a conductor really does? This workshop will answer all of your questions! Based on your feedback from the theory workshops we ran in 2024, this conducting workshop is an expansion of those sessions and will delve into the role of the conductor and how they work with the choir. The workshop will help with understanding how to interact with the music you’re reading, analysis and musical decisions, score preparation, and you’ll even have the opportunity to conduct yourself with ‘hands-on’ work on conducting gestures.

This workshop is aimed at CNCS choir members, but is also open to guest choir members and choral leaders, and there’s no requirement to read sheet music. We hope you’ll come away from the workshop with an understanding of the role of the conductor and how beneficial they can be to a choir, which will help you in rehearsals as well as your deeper musical understanding. We look forward to welcoming you for a fun and engaging afternoon.
